What is wrong with my 1992 ford explorer 4x4 when it won't go into any gears at all?

WORST CASE. TRANNY ISSUES

NOT SURE HOW YOURS WORKS---IN A JEEP CJ, THE TRANSFER CASE HAS A NEUTRAL POSITION. BEEN MANY A TIME I JUMPED IN MINE AND IT WOULDN'T GO 'CAUSE "KIIDS" (YOUNG AND REAL OLD. LIKE 50. AND 'CAUSE IT'S AN OPEN VEHICLE. AND DON'T EVEN KNOW ME!) HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE SHIFTERS AND SHOVED IT INTO NEUTRAL. I'VE BEEN DRIVING NOTHING BUT CJs SINCE 1981, WHEN I WAS ALLOWED ON THE ASPHALT. USED TO, I SAT "DUMB FOUNDED" TRYING TO FIGGER IT OUT. OVER THE YEARS, I'M NOT SO STUPID!

ANOTHER POSSIBILITY IS THAT YOU LOST A BOLT/ PIN/ NUT/ ETC. IN YOUR SHIFTER LINKAGE. PROBABLY AN EZ FIX (PIN MAY BE RIGHT THERE ON THE GROUND!). SO NOW. THE SHIFTER IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE TRANNY

LEMME KNOW HOW IT GOES
