Four weeks ago I turned the key and the engine would not turn over. After several minutes of doing unrelated stuff like moving the shift handle up and down in case the neutral safety switch was acting up, steping on the brake while turning the key, and just about anything I could do in a panic mode, I turned the key to the off position and just tried to think what went wrong. After a minute or two I turned the key and the blazer started right up. It has started with no problem until a couple days ago when it once again would not turn over. Once again, after many attempts to start it, eventually the motor turned over and it has been starting with no problem. The battery was replaced less than a year ago. When I turn the key I have power to all the accessories, the front lights do not dim when I turn the key, and I do not hear any clicking sound from the starter. It is as if the shift handle is in a drive position instead of the park position. Of course the shift handle is in the park position when I turn the key and the motor does not turn over and when it eventually decides to start.
