Possibility hat the ignition cylinder wiring for the theft system has opened, and a valid key value is not being received. Proper repair is replacement of the cylinder with new keys, but there are other options available. Try this guide to reset it

Please run down this guide and report back.

On the information read out it has the following:

THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM

CAR MAY NOT RESTART

SERVICE AIR BAG

Also lights do not work, if car starts it shuts right off, windows do not work, door locks do not operate, opening of trunk or gas door doesn't work.

This has happened before, had to be towed to a mechanic, he played with and seem to fix he thinks by repeatedly unlocking the car with the key.

It was good for about 2 or 3 months, then it happened again, I tried the thing and again was fixed.

Now its happened again and nothing seems to do any good.

Hi Robert,

Symptoms indicates a power supply interruption and it could possibly be the ignition switch.

Perform a test on the ignition switch to see if it is faulty.

IGNITION SWITCH
Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 48-pin connector C202, located at base of steering column. Using DVOM, check for continuity between specified terminals with ignition switch in specified
position. See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST. See Fig. 3. If continuity does not exist as indicated, repair as necessary.

I am not able to add any diagrams and will send the file to your email but can't seem to find it.

I would first check all DTC's by pressing off and warmer on the climate panel. Record and report all DTC's shown. Another check would be the resistance value of the ignition cylinder with the key installed. This would be done at the electrical connector at the base of the column, the two white wires that come out of an orange conduit are the ignition cylinder VATS wires. Check with an ohmmeter, while rotating the cylinder in all positions. It should display the same value as the key pellet, in all positions. Never should it read open circuit, if so you have a break.

You can't bypass the entire system. It has to remain operational, however you can bypass the most common failure item.

The most common failure in these is the sensor in the ignition lock that reads the key pellet. That would mean replacing the ignition lock with a sensor included.

That sensor can be bypassed. You would need a digital ohmeter to measure the resistance of the pellet in the key. Now go to Radio Shack and buy a resister of the exact same value as the key pellet. Go to the base of the steering column and locate the two thin white wires that go up to the sensor. Cut the two wires and solder the resister between the two ends coming from the harness. This will permanently bypass the sensor but not the rest of the system.

My car will not start.A display message appeared on the dash and it said."STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT SYSTEM REMOVE IGNITION KEY".I read the manual and it told me to use a spare key but I didn't have one so I went to a locksmith and got a duplicate key. When I returned to the car and tried to use the new key. It still didn't work, but this time t said."STARTING DISABLED DUE TO THEFT SYSTEM REMOVE IGNITION KEY". Then it said."THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM CAR MAY NOT RESTART". Is it possible to disable the theft system until I get it fixed. If so how?

You can either buy a new lock cylinder, place a good key in it, and plug it in to the harness leaving it under the dash until it can be installed. Or if you know the resistance value of the key pellet, obtain some resistors of the same value and bridge the harness side of the connector simulating a good key. Then any key with the correct cut would start it.

Has it not started since the used column was installed. There is no reset. More than likely, what is happening is the key that the column came with has a different resistance value than the original key. Since the module was not changed to match the key, it wont start. Check the resistance of the key from the old column, and the resistance of the key from the replacement column and see if they differ. If you can find out the vats code of the original key, you can have a key with that code, cut to match the replacement columns key pattern.
