I'm looking for an air diverter valve ; see discussions on them. Has anyone found them yet?

Cugino, you have already been told that it is just an emissions part, responsible for lowering HC and CO out the tailpipe. Whether or not you think this makes your vehicle junk, is your discretion. I can't explain why your dealers want nothing to do with older vintages, we gladly accept them. There are only so many avenues that we can travel down to find a discontinued part, and the consumer is not going to fund the 'end-of-the-world' search. That is where this forum comes in. What doesn't make sense, is after you have been told it is just an emissions part, and there are no detrimental effects other than emissions test failure, you keep beating the dead horse. As far as not being able to diagnose things, you could have put the injector, air pump and such that was recommended to you from others. But when you were advised to function test the valve, you found your cause. The reason there is so much on this post dealing with simplistic things like finding one at a junkyard, is that the title of the thread was 'looking for a diverter valve', not 'looking for a scientific explanation as to why a diverter valve makes my car salvage'.

I was the original guy looking for the diverter valve, still haven't found one. I had two shops (a Caddy dealer and an independant shop) tell me that once the diverter valve goes, the car stops. They weren't sure if it went suddenly or slowly went bad. It is good news that it won't cause the car to stop, if indeed that is true. I did find one place that said they had 3 of the diverter valves, according to their inventory computer, but didn't know where they were among their 32,000 parts bins, and I even offered to pay someone on their staff some extra $$ to take the time to search for it, but they didn't go for that. So, I ended up buying another 90 DeVille, a coupe, with 100K on it (half of what my sedan has) and am using that. The sedan still has some major oomph in it but though I've cleared the E49 co0de (AIR system fault), it comes back on after a while and I'm hesitant to drive the sedan for fear of ot dying on me. I'd still love to fins a diverter valve. Any one have one? And will look through ads for Caddy parts in Hemmings Motor News.

No need to get nasty. If you take the time to look you will see I am responding to the post from brian johnson in oct. That says his dealer told him the part fails quickly and makes car inoperable. You did not correct him so when I saw that post I just wanted to double check. I've heard so many conflicting opnions my head is spinning. Just re-read this whole section, not one word saying don't sweat it because it's only an emmissions part. Maybe someone on your site could have jumped in and stopped all the back and forth and told him what you told me. Also, re-read my posts. Different caddy dealers gave me different advice. Same with mechanics. You are just one source. I don't know you or your experience so I have no reason to believe your opinion over a caddy service tech or a mechanic who has 50 years exprience. You should lighten up a little bit. It makes you sound like you are the last word. I'm trying to wade through pages of contrary information to get to the truth. I guess I won't be bothering you again. Btw, just because the post's title is looking for a diverter valve, does not mean it is not full of misinformation that if i'm reading it, others are too. You did not correct him. That's on you. Not everyone got your explanation to me about emmissions and even getting that, reading a contrary opinion on your site is a bit confusing to say the least. I don't need to get lectured by someone who is probably 1/2 my age. That is no way to gain customers. Do what you want, it's your site, but I will not be visiting it again. Part of being a businessman is customer relations. I doubt very much if you would talk to a customer face to face as you talked to me online. That's the funny thing about the internet. People say things because they are anonymous that they could not get away with in real life. You have a short fuse my man. You don't like your opinion questioned. If that's true you need to keep a better eye on your site so when misinformation is posted you can put an end to it. That's exactly why I posted what I did, because misinformation on this subject is all over the internet. Sorry you took it the wrong way, but that's on you. See ya. Don't think i'll donate either. Very immature attitude.

Gm used that valve on more than caddys. Try to locate one. Go to the dealer and get the part info. What years it was used. Then it will have to be taken from that year cars.

Mound 98 - I sent a response a few minutes ago but I don't see it yet, so maybe something is screwy with the site. I would like to get the diverter valve from you but am not sure how to get in touch with you; maybe personal contact info on this site is not allowed. I would send you a personal check and you could hold the part till the check cleared. Please let me know what you'd like to do. I'm the guy who wrote the original 'looking for air diverter valve' note.

Mound98-I sent two replies about 25 minutes ago, and don't see they posted yet, but I would like to buy the AIR diverter valve from you. I'm the guy who started this recent search for the part. I'm not sure how to make contact through this site; if it is allowable to transmit personal contact info. I would send you a check and you could wait until it clears to send me the part. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thanks.

I posted this last week. This part is available @ cadillacheaven. Com I paid $200.00 and $25.00 for shipping by fedex ground. Got it in 2 days. It is in my car now and functioning perfectly. No more ses light. This site has over 1,000 60's - 02 caddys in their yard. They guarantee their parts as well and are very helpful, knowledgeable and all around good people. Need an abs part and will be ordering it next week. Your purchase is also guaranteed by your credit card so you know you will get your part. Sorry, but buying from a private party you don't know is crazy. Roll the dice. Just like ebay. Maybe you'll get the right part or maybe you'll get jubnk or worse yet no part. This seller may be legit or maybe not and what do you do if thetre is a problem? After many mishaps on ebay I only buy from ebay stores or established website. My 2 cents. I am very satisfied with cadillac heaven. If I have a problem I have an actual store with a real address to complain to.

Nobody knows what you get when you buy from an anonymous person on internet. The part I bought from cadillac heaven is not a sketchy used part, but a GUARANTEED part from a legitimate company. The part is on my car and works fine. Do what you want, but if this guy doesn't send you the part or it is damaged or non functional, do you know where to go to get a refund? Your call. Had it happen with private sellers on ebay. I only use guaranteed real companies not a post on a forum with no real name, address or refund policy. Just trying to bring some reality to the situation. The internet is full of scammers. Maybe this guy is legit or maybe he is a crook. It's your money. I'm just saying, I wouldn't chance it when there are guaranteed parts with refunds available who adverize in hemmings motor news and pay to advertize on other cadillac sites. I'm out of this discussion. You guys are over 21 so you're old enough to make a deal, even a bad one. If someone wants to sell a part there are legitimate ways to do it thru paypal etc. Sending your check in the mail to a stranger is just plain crazy.
