'89 Volvo 240DL both fuel pumps, ECU, and fuel pump relay were replaced. The new fuel pump relay was started chattering when key turned off and eventually burned up. Another relay installed, still chatters when key off. I noted that blk-grn and yel-blk wires to ECU 20 & 21 were spliced together in middle by a prior repair. Removed the splice and now relay not working as no whirring sound from fuel pumps. I strapped fuse 3 & 4 on fuse panel to get the pumps working for now to allow car to be used. The chattering problem did not occur prior to replacing the parts above. Any ideas?
