Well yes it is important, so is replacement of the timing belt.

Do you need to replace it when you replace the water pump and the timing belt and can you buy it by itself with out the other two pully they come in a kit

Yes, I would recommend its replacement. I would replace it for peace of mind, cost of the part cannot compare to being stuck somewhere with a broken truck.
