On my 1989 2.0 Mitsubishi Mighty Max, just replaced the rings, rod bearings, head gasket, plugs, honed cylinders, carefully torqued head bolts to specs, Bought new head bolts, (one time use, expandable threads) Broke it in exactly as described in manual. Previous head gasket leaked over #3 cylinder. Had no problms till about 1 thousand miles, then it started smoking most of the time, but would quit after it warmed up, until it went back down to idle. When it is 1st cranked up, cold, it misses. Noticed oil light on today, not sure if it was on before. Exhaust pipe leak underneath same plug. Very possibly burning off antifreeze on #3 plug: was/is fouling. Is there a secret to tauting these head bolts?(Didn't have washers originally) Could a faulty oil pump be the culprit?
