I go to start the car. It ignites but then pulses and dies. Two days ago my car started to heat up. I stopped car was in a rush didn't let it cool down. And like a complete idiot I went and took radiator cap off. It shot up and got all over my engine. Once it cooled it started I put water temporarily so could drive to get antifreeze/coolant. Went and got the antifreeze and started the car to put it in. Started the car and like I said ignited then surged and dies. What do you think is the problem?

Is the check engine light on? Have you checked for spark and fuel to the engine? As far as the overheating, have you tried replacing the thermostat?
