My starter stuck on and positive cable burned up, so I replaced starter, positive cable, selinoid, and ignition switch on steering column. Now when I hook up cables the starter wants to stay on and the negative side cable has twelve volts. Why?

See if you have the starter trigger wire pushed onto the wrong terminal of the the solenoid. It should be on the terminal marked "S"
