What causes a starter to stick? The other day I ran out of gas and once I put more gas in my truck I tried turning it over and the started continued trying to go even after I turned off the key. Also sometimes after started there it a grinding noise, for an example if you try starting a vehicle when it is already started(that noise it makes).

It can be the relay sticking or the starter drive is hanging up and not releasing from the flywheel
