Have a 1986 chevy silverado c30 dually 454 cu. Oil pressure guage sitting on 0. Drove truck about 40 miles yesterday engine is running fine no knocks or anything to indicate no oil pressure. What steps can I take to determine why guage isnt working? Could it be oil sending unit? Stock electical guage.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

What Ras suggested is the correct procedure but with the labor time it takes to do that, it may be cheaper to just replace the sender and see if it fixes it.
