1984 Pontiac Fiero 4 cyl mileage: 135,000. I have a problem with my clutch. It seems as though one of the clutch cables is either loose or broken. Once the car is in gear, I can still freely move the shifter back and forth. I cannot shift out of that gear though. The clutch does release the engine, but I cannot change gears. Any thoughts on how to fix this and how much it would cost to do so? Just for the record, the clutch itself is relatively new, as is the engine.

It sounds like the shifter and linkage bushings are worn out.
