Tried to start truck (been sitting for a couple of days- 20 degree weather and then rain). Engine tried to turn over but than made a noise and good amount of gray smoke came out from under hood on passenger side. Should I try restarting or have towed to mechanic? Just starting to restore.

Sounds like the starter solenoid might be bad. It is near the battery on the passenger fender under the hood.
