Question:  I’m wondering about the future, I want to get into auto repair full blown professional, top of the line scanner the works, is this something I should do? What is the future for Auto Mechanics?

Answer:   It is true the Automotive Industry has changed over the last 10 years. Auto Mechanics have gone from "grease monkeys" to a respected professionals. From grease under the finger nails to latex gloves, from a $500.00 dollar engine scopes to a full blown state of the art computer diagnostic scanners. ($10,000)  As far as income, Auto Repair Technicians are the doctors of transportation, and if you don't think so just look at your last repair bill. A good mechanic will never be obsolete and never under paid. (note: a computer can never repair a car by its self.).....  can you tell, I love this Job.. (2CarPro Ken)

Question: I am presently hired in my second dealership.  I have 5 years experience in this field as a Nissan technician and sadly, not even a single ASE certification is at hand.  Can you guide me where I can get some information about this certification?  I can work on cars that’s why I was hired before but this time in this present one, they are requiring me to at least pass 80% of ASE certificate.   Please help me find some information.  Thank you very much in advance.

Answer:  There is a web site where you can find the information you are looking for.  It is http://www.asecert.org/.

Question: This is not concerning any particular make, but you might help me.  I am looking for a course in automotive electronics.  Are you able to help me with names of educational institutions that provide this type of courses?

Answer: Please visit our our Auto Repair Manuals page for additional resources.
