Question: 1990 Pontiac Bonneville, miles: 56,000.  I live in Whistler B.C., Canada.  The driver’s side floor pan has started to rust and three holes have appeared.  At the moment, it's raining every day.  I need some advise on how to repair these holes so it'll keep the water and snow out of my vehicle as well as stop the rust.  I would also like to know your opinion on studded tires verses chains.  Do studded tires help from slipping on ice?  Thanks for your help.

Answer:  It is very difficult to stop rust on a car body once it starts especially if it is raining every day.  To plug the holes in the floor pan try some roof patch they sell in hardware stores.  Yes, studded tires help on icy roads.
