MORE: Engine oil temperature questions

Car Engine Oil Coolers - This category contains featured questions as examples. They relate to most vehicles.

Question:
2003 Chevrolet Corvette mileage: 69,000.  Do I need an oil cooler?  My new engine in my corvette runs a 230-degree oil temperature.  After running at 80-85 for 10-15 miles out of Atlanta traffic, but cools to around 215-220 at 70-75, range is this ok?  What do you think Bob & Ken?

Answer: An oil temperature of 220 degrees is normal. An engine oil cooler would be beneficial to high performance engines.

Question: 2002 Honda CRX mileage: 93,500. My car is used for racing. If I install a engine oil cooler will it help make the engine live longer or just add weight to the car.?

Answer:  Anytime you over work a engine in extreme conditions an engine oil cooler and transmission oil cooler is beneficial to not only engine life but engine power output.
