Question: 2003 Volkswagen Jetta mileage: 20,000. How do you repair a right side mirror on a  Jetta? The whole mirror ripped off breaking the metal bracket that the mirror swivels on. Is it a hard job? Is it involved? Thanks

Answer: To replace the a side view mirror, especially if it is a remote controlled one, the interior door panel will have to come off to get access to the wiring and mounting bolts. The job is quite simple.

Question: 2003 Dodge Truck 1500 mileage: 37,000.  Driver side power mirror will not adjust up and down. Will adjust left and right.

Answer:  The control switch for the mirror or the mirror itself may be faulty.  Check for 12-volts to the mirror for the up and down movement.  If 12-volts are present, it is not the switch, the side view mirror needs replacement.

Question: 2003 Mercedes Benz S430 mileage: 40,000.  Is there very much difficulty in replacing a side view mirror?

Answer:  Remove door panel to access mirror mounting bolts and wiring. Replace side view mirror with new. Reassemble to recheck operation.
