Question: 2002 Ford Explorer
mileage: 78,000. I have a problem with my transmission.
I usually put about 2 quarts a week in the truck just to
keep it running. However, I think that the transmission
fluid is getting mixed with the oil because after about
two weeks of doing this my oil is overfilled and has a
red tint. I think it has something to do with the vacuum
tubes on the top of the engine. They all blew off during
a backfire one time and I just stuck them back on where
ever they would fit. That's when the transmission fluid
problem started. I have looked at my Ford book but it
doesn't give a diagram to describe which hose connects
to which port on the vacuum thing-a-ma-jiggy. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks
Answer: There should be a hose
routing diagram located under the hood in the engine
compartment. Follow routing instructions.
Question: 2003 Buick Century
mileage: 35,000. Hi...I have problems with the radiator
hoses collapsing.... especially after shutting the car
off. New radiator, heater core, thermostat, hoses, and
cap. Also, have got all the air out...no head gasket
problems either?
Answer: Your collapsing radiator
hose problem is probably caused by a faulty or the wrong
type of radiator cap. On the correct radiator cap, a
small valve opens up when the engine cools down to
prevent the radiator hose from collapsing.
Question: 2004
Toyota Camry mileage: 32,700. I don't want my
belts and hoses to break while driving. I'd like
to have them replaced early to help avoid this
happening. At what mileage do you suggest an early
replacement?
Answer: Under normal circumstances,
the rule of thumb is every three years or 35,000 miles
which ever occurs first.
Question: 2002
Chevrolet Monte Carlomileage: 43,000. I am 25 years old
and have a fair knowledge of cars. My problem is my
car’s vacuum hoses. A relative at no charge gave the car
to me. When I received the car, it had no vacuum hoses
on it. The car will start and run, but not very well. I
bought a Haynes repair manual for it, but I could not
find any help for the hoses. My father said to find a
car with the same hose pattern and match it. I have not
found one yet. Can you suggest any help for this
problem?
Answer: Some cars have a "road
map" of the vacuum hoses. The "map" is on the underside
of the hood. If you do not luck out, try your father’s
idea but also check out other GM Cars that have the same
or similar engine. |
