Question: 2004 Chevrolet
Corvette miles: 59,000. I bought my corvette back in 2004 brand new. It has bee the best car I have ever owned,
I drive it every day (25 miles each way). I
was driving back from work when my traction
control light came on. I was concerned but
kept driving. The car seemed ok but when I
turned the first right after the light came
on the car shuttered and pulled to the
right..... Then it seemed to be ok,
weird. I continued home but the Traction
Control light was still on?. So I surfed the
internet and found your site. Please help me
.. I love my Corvette.
Answer:
Yes, that can be scary. What is happening is
you have a wheel sensor that is shorted or
has high resistance and is out of operating
range. The Traction Control module is
confused by the sensor reading and thinks
your are in some kind of skid when your
really not. So it try's to compensate by
activating the system, that is what you are
feeling.

Question: 2004 BMW 745i miles: 38,000. My traction
control light has illuminated shortly after
I drove my car off the lot. I took it back
to the dealer, they said it was related to
the left rear wheel sensor. So they replaced
the sensor, and gave it back. The light was
still on, they told me the light would reset
in 40 miles. I drove it over 40 miles and
the light is still on. Do you know what
could be wrong?
Answer:
Yes, we have seen this problem before. sometimes in production the ABS conductor
ring is not properly attached to the wheel hub. The effect is the wheel sensor
is to far away to obtain a correct reading, hence the trouble code light. Proper
mounting should alleviate this problem.
Question:
2005 Toyota Camry miles: 28,000. My traction
light is on and I can hear some kind of
running noise in the front of car. I took my
car down to the my friends garage but he
couldn't find the problem. Have you heard of
this, or know what is going on? I would take
it to the dealer but the nearest one is 150
miles away.
Answer:
Yes, it sounds like your ABS pump and valve
assembly are bad. The noise you hear is the
pump motor running trying to keep adequate
pressure in the system. You need to have the
ABS/Traction control unit replaced.
