The battery was recently replaced in the car and now the a/c is blowing warm air. The charger is hooked up and guages ok, the compressor runs for about 2 seconds and then shuts down. The clutch is good but the unit will not stay on long enough to charge system.

First thing you need to do is have the system evacuated to make sur you did not overcharged the system. Once the system has being evacuated, vacuumed of moisture and recharged with the proper amount you can recheck the system to see if it is working properly. If the compressor stops working again and you hve powergoing to the compressor clutch, the compressor clutch is worn out and will need replacing.
