2000 Volvo S80 Repair Question

2000 Volvo S80 loose steering wheel
Steering wheel is loose & I'm afraid that I will discharge the air bag if I start puttering around. How can I safely get into the steering wheel assembly and tighten the wheel w/o setting off the air bag?
By the way, thanks Guys. My other questions have been answered promptly & accurately. I'm afraid technology has left me in the dust & you guys keep me out of trouble......Thank you

Disconnect negative battery cable and wait 3 minutes to disable air bag system.Not sure you want to do this yourself, there is a locking tool required for th econtact reel for the air bag , if not done properly it will ruint he"clockspring" and then it will need to be retimed and replaced as well.
