Volvo S60 Engine Problem

2003 Volvo S60 4 cyl Automatic 51800 miles
I have a 2003 Volvo s60...its been randomly not starting on me. The car will turn over but the engine wont start. All the lights, air, radio (power) is on but no powers is going to the engine. Somebody suggested it could be the sensor or something as simple as the starter. If it was the sensor what exactly does that mean?
