I am having trouble with brake lights blowing WAY too often. Plus now.I have no reverse lights. There is no message about "check light" or anything. No bulb failure or dipped beam message. Any thoughts?

The lights when you hit the brakes. Not just the regular lights when the lights are on. No white reverse lights either

What type of bulbs are you using? The cheaper the bulb the quicker it goes out? Also does all the brake lights not work or just the outer bulbs do not come on but the third brake light comes on? Did you check the reverse light bulbs to see if they were burnt out? Do you have power going to the sockets if you check it with a test light? You may need to take it in to the dealership for further diagnosing? The message for brake light failure is sent from the Rear Electronic Module to the Central Electronic Module which then sends to the Drivers Information Module via CAN (Controller Are Network) and if that is not happening, you could have an issue with the Rear Electronic Module but taking it to the dealership or an independent Volvo repair shop would be the best thing to do if checking your basics does not reveal the problem.

THE BEST THING TO DO WITH THIS CONDITION IS TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A VOLVO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. ITS NOT LIKELY THAT ALL THOSE BULBS FAILED AT THE SAME. THE SIGNAL TO THE TAILIGHT BULBS ORIGINATES FROM THE "REM". IF THERE IS A FAULT IN THE "REM", THERE MAY NOT BE A MESSAGE THAT IS POSTED, BUT THE "REM" MAY STILL HAVE FAULT CODES.

Well seems like you really dont know a Volvo after all? Just 2 months ago had a 2009 S80 with both outer brake light bulbs not working. Of coarse first thing that popped in my mind was it could have a bad relay right? WRONG! Just for the heck of it decided to check the bulbs. Removed bulbs from socket and probed with a test light and guess what? The bulbs were bad. Never forget your basics or you will look like a fool if you can not even diagnose a simple bulb failure. Start with the easiest part first and sounds like he is. Bulbs burn out, replaces, and burns out. You should know that cheap bulbs from a cheap aftermarket manufacture will not last? So, ljones30082 before you go to the dealership and spend a $100 diagnosis for bulbs, check them again yourself and like I mentioned before, do the basic tests I have provided an let me know what you find.
