Cooling fan

I am working on a 1997 volvo 960 with aprox. 80,000 miles and is an automatic with a 2.9 engine. The cooling fans run at all times and for about 5 minutes after you shut the engine off. I have replaced the thermostat and checked the fan realy and it is good. The car does not run hot, but the fans are constant. I was thing the fan control or fan switch. What do you think and is there a way I can test it?

Perfectly normal for the fan to run after car is shut down. Should not run down battery, dont worry.
