Warranty problem
2004 Volkswagen Passat

I have a 2004 TDI. I have had problems with excessive black smoke since I bought it. I have taken it in to a dealer approximately every 9 months for this problem. They always chnage the fuel filter. Once the mechanic could not find the problem and had the filters out, changed teh ECR and put the filters back. My warranty just expired and the same problem happened. My mechanic told me there was a VW service bulletin that instructed them to replace the fuel injectors but this was never done. I want to see if I can have this repaired under warranty since it was never done properly. Any ideas? Thank you.

Was the replacement of the injectors a recall or authorized field change? If so you can ask for what is called policy assistance or ask for the dealership to use their expired warranty. They should be able to work with you. They might not cover all of it but often will help out. Make sure to mention & bring the reciepts for all of the times you brought it in for the same repair.
