2003 Volkswagen Passat cv joint
My mechanic has suggested to me that the vibration/rattling sound and sensation I am feeling when turning and accellerating simutaneously is due to a torn CV boot and probable deterioration of the CV joint in the right front wheel. I am waiting for an estimate on replacement. How dangerous is it to drive with this condition and can you give me a average price for repair/replacement? I have to admit, I am really uncomfortable driving "my baby" with this noise and vibration - it feels as though the front axle wants to break!

The cost of the half shaft cv joints for your car is around 150 dollars at auto zone.The cost for install can vary upon shop but plan on around 200 dollars for install.Total about 300 to 350 for thye job.
The sound you hear when in a turn is the bearings in the joint failing. You should get it repaired soon as if the joint fails in a turn it could cause an accident.
