Hi

The air conditioning on my VW Passat 1.8 has packed up. I think the fan has broken. Is this an easy job for me to take on or should I take it to a garage? If it is simple, could you please give me a summary of what to do. Also, I got some paint damage recently when a jetwash lifted up the paint film at the back of the car. Is it OK just to sand down the edges and respray the affected area?

Hi Roger,

AC jobs if it requires releasing of the freon would be best left to the professionals.

If you don't mind the two tone effect of the paint work and maybe poor finishing, you can do what you described.
