1999 VW Jetta Starter

I need to have my starter replaced on a 1999 VW Jetta. They have quoted me 549$ for parts and labor. Is this a fair price? Thanks.

If I were you I would go and get a starter from the junkyard. But that just me talkin. I dunno but 500+ looks like a lot for a starter but u never know with the Vw.I was quoted 700 for just a catalytic converter and downstream o2 =/. So I went to the guys I get my car customized at and they offered 240 =). Saves me $450
