Brakes problem
2000 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi there

I own a 2000 VW Jetta. The car does not have its original engine. It was swapped for a 2L with only about 75 000 Kms on it now. My issue is a while ago after a reg visit to the garage for an oil change my ABS light came on. The garage checked out the brakes and said its most likley the sensor. I agreed because the car was not performing any differnent and nothing seemed to be wrong and VW's have a reputation to get electical issues.

My car was in a car accident and has been repaired. After repairs the ABS light is still on so i thought nothing of it thinking still that it was just the sensor. It is now winter and whenver the roads are slick and i drive the car the ABS light turns OFF and when i use the breaks the ABS kick in when it shouldn't.

Basically what is happening is the ABS kicks in when i use the brakes but is sticking and not turning off. When the ABS kicks in on ice and it vibrates is what it is doing even if it the car is not slipping. I have to brake to the floor for the vibration to stop and the ABS to unstick.

Ever hear of this happening before? And any idea what car be done to fix it.

Thanks

Erin
