1988 Volkswagen Fox Front Wheel Drive Manual hmmm miles

hi, I was driving home with horrible steering wheel shakes like it wanted to pull me off the road. Then when I turned into my driveway something snapped and I couldn't move anywhere. Car still runs, I can put it into gear and turn the wheel, but when I give it gas (even in gear) the car just revs and makes a rattling sound. What happened? And is it expensive to fix?

Hi there,

you may have snapped a drive shaft or a CV has failed inspect this first and report back for more assistance.
