I replaced the fuel pump. I took the gas tank off and drained it and blew out the lines and tank. I replaced the spark plugs. I took off new wires off my '66 vw and put them on the '67 no difference. I took off the coil off the '66 and put it on the '67 no difference. Checked my fuses, nothing. It just won't run. It will try to turn over put no spark. I even try to see if any spark from spark plug by taking the end of one spark plug connector and holding it 1/8 from engine but no spark. I even took off the coil wire from the distributor cap and see if any spark but none. Can you help me brainstorm this situation.

This sounds like the point and condenser need to be replaced which is common. Here is a link to how it is done.

Electrical problem
1973 Volkswagen Beetle Four cylinder two wheel drive manual.

1600cc new engine, no spark at plugs. Voltages to coil correct. Resistance on coil seem correct. Do not know specs. Yellow spark from coil to distributor. Changed points, condenser, rotor cap, still nothing. Checked all connections. Car idle over winter. Before I buy new coil, what else may cause trouble. Thanks, Jamie

Yellow spark from coil to distributor. The ignition is weak-check all connections and voltage available to the coil-recheck the point gap with a dwell meter everything else are fine -change the coil

My car was driving fine when suddenly it stopped I tried to start it again however this tine the 2 little red lights that supposed to be on when the ignition key is on do not come on any more the motor turns but it does not crank there is no spark.

Check and test ignition switch and primary wiring to the coil from the ignition switch and coil's primary and secondary winding resistances/contact points

Did you wire the coil correctly? If so check the contact point gap.

We have a 1974 bug 10 volts from coil car. Still will not start. Has new cap, rotor, points, wires and condenser as well as the distributor. But no spark to plugs?

Ground coil wire does it spark? Key on manualy open points is there spark?
