Vauxhall Zafira Heater Problem

2007 Vauxhall Zafira 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 36000 miles
there was a loud bang under the bonnet the car cut out, car wouldn't restart then turned the heater/ac off and the car restarted but the heater is now making a knocking noise when switched on

check for belt/AC compressor damage under the bonnet ?
