1997 Vauxhall Sintra Engine running cold
Engine Cooling problem
1997 Vauxhall Sintra 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 145000 miles
I have a Vauxhaul Sintra 3.0L V6. The heater inside does not produce much in the way of heat. The temp gauge has a range of 40 - 125 deg C. The reading when driving only shows around 60 deg, a quarter of the way up the scale. I have fitted a new thermostat but the engine running temp still seems low at only a 1/4 of the temp gauge. If left idling for a long period of time the temp reaches 100 deg but once I start driving the temp drops back down. Any ideas ?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The fans do not come on when idling after a long run. The temp switch, in my opinion, seems to work fine. The cars running temp is low as when I put on the heater in the car on I have a poor response with heat as well.

I would replace the water pump .. could be giving bad circulation !
