I suspect problem is some type of sensor. Trunk will not open either from using key or release latch inside. Just recently the back door passenger on drivers side will not lock with key, but manually I can push lock and close door to lock. Now the gas door release latch is only working off and on to open gas door. The instrument control panel goes completely dark at times, an older problem

As far as these problems go it sounds like you have several issues. One is that the door lock and truck release actuators are not working. The gas door is controlled by a cable and pushed out by a spring, generally. The instrument panels is going out probably because the headlight switch is bad.
So for the door and trunk I am attaching 2 links that are walk-throughs to diagnose and fix the issue as there are several possibilities as to why this is happening. For the gas door have someone hold the release and then try to open it by pushing in on t, on the hinged side past the hinge so it swings open. Or get a cable tie or something to get behind the door and pull it out.
Use the links below for the doors and trunk. It may not mention trunk but principle is the same.
