1962 Triumph TR3A timing chain cover

1962 Triumph TR3A 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 10,000 miles
Gentlemen:
Does any one know how to remove the timing chain cover without taking off the front apron assembly? Also, is there a way for the crankcase can lose oil through the timing chain cover? I don't so, but I don't know a lot.
This is a 1960 tr-3a.
