1963 Triumph Other Repair Question

1963 Other Triumph Models battery over charging
Electrical problem
1963 Other Triumph Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
amp meter unsteady so had gen. rebuilt,new bushings,cut arm. new brushes,amp meter same problem, cant recall if over charging.replaced volt reg,charging at 30+amps,lights on about 15,20 amps.checked wires from gen. cheched +grd. wire on battery,replaced again regulator.have repair manual for the tr4 went through all checks,reg. never kicks out have cooked two batteries.cleaned all wire connections.before i started all i had was a jumpy amp meter,what seemed to be a simple operation has now become a nightmare.any ideas?

Regulator is adjustable take off cover and you will see a screw on cutout. connect volt meter and adj to cut out at 14.5 14.8V
