1st presented; 65mph hot in d2 3rd gear went to neutral, d-1 ran in 2nd gear, no 2-3 shift. Now; shifts cold both d1 and d2. Hot; no 2-3 shift in d1, no 1-2 shift in d2

First, D2 is second gear only. No shifting up or down.

Make sure your linkeage is set up right

if it is, you may have a valve body issue. Considering the year, I bet that is the issue. You need an old timer in a trans shop that worked on the old cast iron cruise-a-matic trans.
