1995 Toyota Tercel check engine light

My check engine light came on and I try to get the code, but somehow the check engine light would't blink, also I have notice it burn a lot of fuel. Pleases advice what to do next.

You need a Toyota scanner tool to retrieve the trouble codes, sounds like a faulty oxygen sensor though.

Much appreciated, I did try to rent the code scanner but no such luck, the only way it to buy 1 and the cheap it 1 cost $221. And to tell u the true I don't have the fund. By the way if I replace the oxygen sensor will the problem gone, please advice.
