1991 Toyota Tercel 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 122000 miles

I have a '91 tercel with the original everything.
I took off and the clutch slipped, now 1st, 2nd & 4th work, but I have to hold the stick in 3rd or it will not stay in gear.
What is wrong?
