Sadly head gaskets on all V-6 engines were a severe problem for Totota. That issued a recall VO6 that covered most under warranty. I am not sure your engine will apply but the uses the same gasket material. Go to the beginning of the Toyota and click on the moderators comments. It will tell you about it.

You can replace the engine as long as you change the intake with out the turbo but it will reduce boost performance to 0. The negine will run the same and perform well with no shot of turbo performance.

U have a supra and want to replace the motor. I know this msg is old but hey. Ull never know. After all u had it sitting for 3yrs. Yes u can get an non turbo engine. 7mge's are inline 6 cylinder. The head gaskets are supposedly bad for many toyotas yet I never seen a problem yet.

Sad to hear u had ur turbo fried. But all u need is a 7MGE motor. Oppose to the supra's 7MGTE. Since i've never done this or heard of doing this I would only check to see if u would also need a new transmission for this new engine. If u have an automatic u should be fine by my guess.
