Hello,

I started the car (which started fine) but the check engine light came on. I placed the car in drive and it began to move forward in idle. When I pressed on the gas, the engine would not rev (rpm's would not go up) and the car would not accelerate.

The car will continue to remain in idle in both drive and reverse, but both will not allow the car to accelerate.

Any suggestions on what this might be?

Hi ctkiker,

Thank you for the donation.

When the Check engine light is indicating, a fault in the system has been detected and it is in limp mode whereby you would not be able to accelerate beyond a certain rpm.

You need to retrieve the trouble code by using a scanner and proceed with rectification from there. As it is in limp mode, this should be a major fault with the system so it is recommemded to get problem solved asap.

Autozone provides the scanning services free. Get it done and let me know the exact trouble code so I can advise on what needs to be done.

I had the codes read.

P2121 and p2122

I looked this up and appears to be the throttle sensors. Any suggestions on what might need to be replaced?

Yes, the codes are for the Throttle Position Sensor. It is attached to the throttle body.

Check the wire connector terminals for contaminations and loosness.
