2001 Toyota Prius whirring noise from engine
Noises problem
2001 Toyota Prius 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles
recently, when i turn on the engine it has started giving a whirring noise that continues for about 15 seconds after the gasoline engine cuts off, then turns on again for a minute or so, then off, on... each time it turns on there's a small sound like a very rapid beep of the horn.

I'm not sure about the beep but the whirring noise can be the battery kicking on the electric fan which can be activited even with the car off and key removed to cool down the engine.
