Brakes problem
2002 Toyota Pickup Two Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles

I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma truck. Honestly, it's fallen far below par for Toyota. The main problem I have had is the brakes squeaking. It's never consistent, but it happens constantly. I've taken it to a competant mechanic, and he says that some vehicles just do that without any rhyme or reason. Everything looks fine otherwise.

Is he correct about this, or is there something else that can be done? It happens mainly in parking lots and coming to slow stops, which makes for some unpleasant attention.

Thank you.

Certainly some vehicles are like that as your Shop says, I don't know that yours one of them.

I have found that the typical causes of brake noises are from lack of proper cleaning and lubrication of braking components and use of inferior quality parts or not properly addressing the rotors. Pads can wear into the rotors and create a lip that may cause this.

The starting point is to determine which wheels are the offenders. Have someone listen outside the truck as you pass them and brake, to find which wheels are the source.

To be honest with you, the squeaky brakes might not have anything to do with the toyota. I work for goodyear and alot of the time that people come in with complaints of that, its mostly just crappy/cheep pads. Get what you pay for most the time.

I agree about the quality. We just switched because of the poor quality we have been using. They weren't inexpensive though and were a name brand.
