I have a 1986, 4 cyl, 22R-E fuel injected pick-up that fails to turn over. It worked fine until yesterday. I turned the key, it just clicked so I jumped the battery and tried for 30 minutes but all it would do is click. I tapped the starter with a hammer and still just a click. After trying over and over, the clicking stopped and it just does nothing. All lights work and battery is fine. Is the coil the same as the solenoid?
Is it maybe a worn out starter? I don't know where the solenoid is? On the driver's side fender well I see a relay/coil and tapped it also. Still, all lights come on but no engine turning over. Not even the clicking sound. All wires seem to be in tact. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Have helper put key to start and hold it there look power on the small wire at the solenoid on the starter-do you have power-if so replace the starter. If not at the clutch pedal bracket jumper the clutch switch connector and try starting it.
