Hi, I recently purchased a 2005 Toyota Echo Automatic (in Australia). Two days after purchase I noticed the temperature sensor light comes on when I first start the car indicating the car is running cool (the blue light). It didn't do this for the first few days I owned the car. Anyway, I drive for about 5 minutes and the light switches off. Should I be concerned? Does the car need to be taken to a mechanic? Is there anything I should do? Thanks in advance for any advice/help you may provide. Sincerely, Souder17

The light is supposed to come on when engine is cold and go off when coolant temp is at operating temp.

Most likely a bad (or going bad) sensor, I would not be concerned, but if you are, hook up PCM to scanner and see what PCM is reading for coolant temp. It should rise to thermostat temp, go down several degrees and then maintain the operating temp (180-195 degrees F).
