Hi, I have a 2001 Corrolla with 292,000 mostly highway Kilometers. Car has been burning about a litre of oil per 1000K. Told this is common for the year and mileage of my corrolla. Lately there has been a hesitation from a dead stop and then last night on my way to work "check engine" light started flashing and quite a bit of vibration from the engine compartment and hesitation from any speed. Any help would be great, before I take it to dealer.

You do not want to drive it like this. Your feeling a severe misfire most likely, maybe from fouled plugs. However raw fuel getting into the converter is damaging it. Never drive with a CEL blinking.
