Automatic 1.8 L four cylinder 173,000 miles. Changed idle control valve. Check engine light went off, but came back on about an hour later. Have rechecked codes. Still have P0505 code. When cold the car hesitates badly when taking off. Once warm it runs good.

This codes is telling us the computer cannot control the engine idle which can be caused by a dirty throttle bore or a vacuum leak.

Here are two guide that will help us fix the problem:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/throttle-actuator-service

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

I believe the P0171 is because while running at idle I removed each injector electrical connection one at a time than replaced it before taking the next one off to see if one would sound different.

When cold the car hesitates badly when taking off. Once warm it runs good.

Thanks for any help.
