the question is regarding my 1998 toyota corolla VE Automatic....

the check engine light comes on and off....it will stay on for few days, then it goes off again. I have taken the car to toyota service dept. first, they did the tune up...still not solved, second...they changed the tps switch from what i was told, and also charcole canister...still...the probelm was not solved...However, I believe it has something to do with trani....because, the car has lost the power to go up hill...at avg speed and it does not pick up fast as it should from stop point...sometimes it does, but most of the time not. Also, when the water splashed at the bottom of the car, it makes sputtering sound like an old car which has no exhust. What should I do?

Get it scan for OBD2 code/s and comeback with it.

Could be the TPS/VSS and a clogged exhaust system.
