Was wondering how to go about replacing the differential fluid on this car? I just had to replace my fuel pump unit, (ridiculously expensive, 2000 miles over my warranty), and decided to do a major overhaul of all the systems (fluids, belts, etc.). I have never messed with a vehicle's differential before, but am confident that I could do this myself with a little instruction. Thanks.

Hi KLCTexas,

Here is a guide to help walk you through the service with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car.

Fluid type:. Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV

Change Automatic Transmission Fluid Only As Necessary.

Generally, it is necessary to change automatic transmission fluid only if your vehicle is driven under one of the Special Operating Conditions listed under one of the Scheduled Maintenance Guide or Owners Manual Supplement.

When changing the automatic transmission fluid, use only "Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV" (ATF JWS3309 or NWS6500) to aid in assuring optimum transmission performance.

Notice: Using automatic transmission fluid other than "Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV" may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration, and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle.
Capacities

ATF CAPACITY

Drain And Refill:. Up to 3.0 L (3.2 qt, 2.6 Imp. Qt.)

Dry Fill. 7.3 L (7.72 Qts.)
