My Corolla flashed the check engine light today. I was near a parts store and they were kind enough to hook up their code reader. The parts guy indicated that the evap emissions code indicated a bad solenoid in the evaporative emissiions system, and that the part was available through the dealer only. Is this the only item that could be at issue with this code - I believe the number that came up in the reader was 8046 and it definitely said evap emissions
Thanks

EVAP codes can also be set by a loose gas cap or one that is not properly sealing.

If it is a solenoid, the dealer or trusted garage can test the solenoids with a scan tool.
